About Us

Greetings from my zoo to yours!   I have always been a very driven, career-focused individual.  I knew from the beginning that I would make a wonderful mother someday, but I would never be a good stay-at-home mom.  I was raised as one of five children by a sahm and her sacrifice and love helped make the the person I am today.  I admire sahm's and their dedication to their children.  But this was not for me.  I went to college on scholarships and graduated with honors with a Wildlife Ecology and Conservation degree.  I got accepted into a Master's program on a teaching scholarship and graduated with my Master's of Biology degree in 2006.  I now work at an Accredited Zoo in the education department, working with animals and teaching children the wonders of the environment that has captured my heart since a very early age.

In the midst of getting all these very expensive papers that say I have some kind of education, I married my best friend, The Weatherman.  We tied the knot while we were still in college in 2002 and waited a couple (*cough* 8 *cough*) years before we were blessed with our little Goober who will be 3 years old in October 2013.  Our life has never been the same since. Then for some crazy reason we decided it was a good idea to have another baby and in June 2013 we welcomed little Frog Face to our family.  When you become a parent, everything changes.   But what I have discovered during my journey as a bona-fide semi-responsible adult was that raising children was a lot like raising animals.  They are both messy, loud, demanding, smelly, obnoxious, selfish, time-consuming, exhausting, annoying, and the most important, incredible blessings in your life that fill a hole you never realized was empty before.  Animals and children may make you want to tear you hair out (and attempt to tear it out for you) but life without them would not be nearly as full.

This is our tail of balancing life working at a zoo and life with my zoo at home, all while trying to keep God in the center of our chaos.  Nothing is ever easy, but then, easy is often boring.  Our life is anything but boring!
